Save the date vs Einladung: wann was senden

Save the dates and formal invitations serve different purposes, and timing them correctly ensures maximum attendance at your event.

Send save the dates 6-8 months before your wedding. These are simple announcements - just the names, date, and city. No RSVP needed. Their purpose is to get the date on calendars, especially for destination weddings.

Formal invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the event (3-4 weeks for local, casual celebrations). These include all the details: venue, time, dress code, RSVP deadline, and any special information guests need.

Digital save the dates have a major advantage: you can update them. Venue change? Just update the link. Added a brunch the morning after? Send a quick update to everyone who already RSVP'd.

The golden rule: don't send a save the date to anyone you might not invite to the wedding. It's a commitment.
